Getting started

Install and connect

What you need, how TakeOff checks your API key, and choosing your first app.

TakeOff needs macOS 26.5 or later and an App Store Connect API key with App Manager access. Setting up takes three screens: Welcome, your key, and the app to open.

Create a key

If you do not have a key yet, TakeOff walks you through it on the second screen, and the API key guide has the same steps. In short: in App Store Connect, open Users and Access › Integrations, generate a key with App Manager access, and download the .p8 file. Apple lets you download it only once.

Add the key

Drop the AuthKey_….p8 file on the window or choose it, then enter its Key ID and Issuer ID.

TakeOff checks the file on your Mac first: it must be a .p8 file, no larger than 16 KB, and contain a valid signing key. Only then does it ask Apple to verify the key. If something is wrong, the message says what happened, why, and what to do; while adding a key, Copy error detail puts the full text on the clipboard.

Choose an app

TakeOff lists the apps the key can see, with search and a platform filter. The app you open first becomes your Free app; see Plans and limits.
